we rented mopeds in Key West and sped around the island.  Key West is in the shape of a triangle and isn’t too big.  It took us about an hour to follow the road around the island.  Along the way we stopped at the beach to admire the beautiful beach (Key West is flanked by the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico).

         

  

This buoy is a landmark for the southern most spot in the United State, and a popular tourist attraction.

Wilbur served as our tour guide to Altun Ha, which is a Myan Ruin about 30 miles outside of Belize.  We left for Altun Ha around 9:30 AM and had to be back for a tour around 12:00 PM and thought we would have plenty of time.  Little did we know that Belizan infastructure excluded roads.  30 miles in Belize takes about an hour.  A portion of our tirp involved traveling on a one lane road the locals call “chicken road” after the game chicken.  We arrived and had about 30 minutes to look around before our journey back.    

           

We didn’t have a lot of time to explore, but as you can see the ruins are amazing.

we saw lots of wildlife while floating down the river.

we arrived in Guatemala after Belize.  We found another local to show us around.  We started off visiting a market in town close to our port.  This was an open market.  When we hit the meat section I thought Heather and JET were going to lose it.  After the market we went to the beach.

This dude guarded the bank Heather went into for some money.  JET and I waited in the car while Heather was getting money.  It took forever, yes I worried, so we got out and went to see what was going on.  All was okay; the bank teller was just being thorough.
